I just got this information from Mark Houlahan (Mustang Man.)

He has been working on a special edition magazine that will be in the stores/news stands on or near August 30th. It is an all FFR issue and should be a good read.

Just a heads up....

Is this a one off or a major publisher?

Editor Mark Houlahan did an absolutely incredible job of capturing some of the huge milestones of the last few years here at Factory Five. Mark is a huge part of this community and one of the best staff writers ISM has.

On the cover: Pro photographer Eric English risked life and limb on a Seattle highway to capture FFR customer Hank Fisher with his son Justin of Mukilteo, WA driving their orange Factory Five Mk3 next to FFR customer Brian Fouts of Fall City, WA in his red Mk3 Roadster on rare sunny day in the Pacific Northwest.

When Mark and the crew at Interlink Source Media came to me with the idea of an all Factory Five edition of Kit Car Magazine, I thought it was a pretty cool idea. Truth is, you could write an entire magazine on what we've done in the last two years!

After submitting ideas for stories and looking at recent changes in our cars, we came up with about 250 pages of editorial. Mark was able to crush down the content and stuff it into a HUGE Factory Five annual issue of Kit Car Magazine.

This was a fun project to work on and it gave us a chance to let the world know what we and our customers have been up to. The magazine will be on the newsstands for the next few months and we hope you pick up a copy.

Features include a great story on the 2011 Huntington Beach Cruise-In, a beautiful profile of FFR customer Keith Bentzel's Gen 1 GTM, and profiles on Russ' Coupe, the Mk4 Roadster, Gen 2 GTM, and Gen 2 Type 65 Coupe. Mark also wrote an excellent article on registration and titling requirements as well as a comprehensive history of his own personal build.

This special Factory Five annual edition of Kit Car Magazine will be on sale until November 1st, 2011.

Times like this being in the UK really sucks. No chance of it appearing over here.

I've sent you a "Private Message." Reply with your mailing address and when I get my copy, I'll buy an extra and drop it in the mail for you.

Thanks for the Heads up Dave. I'll be looking for it on the stands.

That is an awesome cover shot of the two roadsters! Maybe my GTM will be in something like this someday. Or maybe even SEMA, who knows? God knows I've used parts from just about every vendor imaginable...

Thanks again,

Mike

LuckyWinner - PM Sent. I think I'll buy one at the store just because it'll be so cool seeing it with the other mags. Sometimes, I've flipped through the magazines we advertise in just to see the ad.

Hi folks, this issue looks awesome but I'm having an impossible time finding it...

Barnes & Noble doesn't carry it (went into the store and asked for it) so I tried to order on the web but the publisher for Kit Car Magazine's site says they are no longer published...
https://www.circsource.com/store/Subscribe.html?offerId=989

"unfortunately Kit Car has ceased publication"

Does anybody have any pointers or recommendations on where to get a copy of this issue? I can't find anything on the web about it, other than the mention on this site.

If not on the web, anybody know of a retailer that carries this publication? I'm in the San Francisco bay area.

Thanks!
Brian

This forum certainly rocks. I got multiple private messages from people that have offered to buy the magazine and mail it to me. Definitely eases the pain of the $100 t-shirt I got from FFR :)

Awesome. Looking forward to a good read.

Brian, the website is correct. We currently do not publish Kit Car as the bimonthly that it was. However, we do retain the rights to the name and can publish special edition magazines using the brand. This is the case here. It does not go on sale until next Tues, the 30th. Check back middle of next week and you should be able to find it anywhere you see our magazines (Motor Trend, Automobile, Hot Rod, etc.).

We shelved a title called Musclecar Review several years back, but then reintroduced it and it is doing well. We're hoping that perhaps we can do the same with Kit Car and this issue is the newsstand "barrometer"...

Thanks...

I guess I was a little too eager (literally went straight to Barnes & Noble from work yesterday)... :-) Ok, I'll wait all the way until next Tuesday to go look again! Thanks for the background Mark, I'll check out your Musclecar Review as well.

I checked at two Barnes & Noble and they don't have it on the stands or their computer system. I checked at my local grocery chain and they had it on the shelf. It's a great issue. As a newbie, it answers many questions and some I don't know enough to ask.

Dave, great job in the Replicar Scene section. History, family, and community is a powerful story. Baking bread in the foundry - awesome! Thanks for sharing that!!

FYI guys, most of the online content is going up today, with the rest tomorrow. Check out www.kitcarmag.com for more Huntington Beach photos, the expanded time line, and more. The HB moment of thunder vid should be up tomorrow, along with links to most of the original stories, our build diary from '06-'08, etc. Thanks!

I went out to four stores and bought seven copies so far. One for the house, one to keep in the cars and five to hand out with a DVD and factory lititure when someone really is interested in FFR. Thanks Mark and Dave for giving me even more ways to "spread the word".
