I posted this on both forums. Chatted with Dave B at Factory Five on Thursday and I have been put on 'the board' for Saturday morning pick up!! We will be making the 11-12 hour drive to just outside of Wareham on Friday, getting some sleep then we'll be showing up to Factory Five early Saturday morning. Pretty stoked to start on my version of our favorite car! Thanks to everyone for the pre build questions/answers and also the deals on all the parts needed to finish a Canadian kit! These forums rock!

Higgy, where in Ontario are you? I’m in Alliston, not far from Barrie.
I made that drive to pick up 2 years ago, enjoy!

Higgy-

I made a long trip up from the South with my son to get mine. I got a great tour, and got everything loaded up. It was a long couple days, but the ride home flew by as my son and I talked excitedly about the project!

Have a safe trip, enjoy, and let us know how it goes. All the best!

Regards,

Steve

Should be quite an adventure. I had mine delivered so have never been to FFR, and would love the opportunity to see the place in the flesh.

Just make sure you have all the needed paperwork with you, for when you cross back into Canada, to prevent any hassles.

Higgy...I've been dealing with Dave B as well. He gave me a tour of Factory Five back in October. Top notch support!!

I am just outside of Windsor but google maps says for me to come up your way instead of crossing in Detroit. Should save me almost 2 hours.

Thanks for all the well wishes!! Love the support from the forum family.

On a bad note...Unfortunately just found out I will be laid off from work for two weeks in April. Trip will be postponed one week till April 8th. Not really a big deal....yeah right!! I'm chomping at the bit. I feel like Stewart is delivering!! LOL Like I said not a big deal.

I will update with pics!!

This morning we arrived at the Factory about 8:50am and we were greeted by Dave B in the show room (no pic but it happened!).

105022
Got directions to the back of the warehouse and headed on back!
Nate was handling the duties back there and made sure everything went smoothly!! He even apologized for the Lil Nor easter that rolled in this morning, lol. I'm Canadian bro! This is normal to us!!
105023
Took a few photos while we were loading up for the long ride home.
105024
105026
105025
Annnnnnd.....the cherry on the top was spending about 20 minutes talking shop with the Big Kahuna!!!
105027
Pulled out just after 10am and after gas stops and customs we were home in 12 hours.
1450 miles round trip. I update with total gas and toll costs but overall a very pleasant trip with my honey!!

So the Hemi was drinking like a fuel-aholic so gas cost about $600US. The state of New York helped themselves to $58US in tolls and Mass. hade their hand in my pocket for some tolls as well. They are electronic there so I wont see my bill till it comes in the mail. Stayed a night in a Fairfield Inn on points but that would have cost $124. Packed a cooler so the only meal we bought was some road side pizza for about $10. I will do it again in a heart beat!! More money for parts!!

Looks like my screen name will get a change as well!!!
Paper work says I am #9574!!

Congrats!
Glad that it all went so well for you. No hassles at the border?

I presume FFR doesn't give you the wheeled dolly to keep. So once you wheel the body/frame out to the trailer, how do you get it in the trailer? Do a handful of FFR staff come out, and lift it in for you? Or, did you make a dolly ahead of time to take with you for the loading?

Bill, no problems at the border. They didn't even look in the trailer!!!
I did bring the frame dolly I made but since I didn't get my frame powder coated they just put it on the floor of my trailer. They have basically a 5" round steel tube that goes on the fork lift. On the end of that is a chain with two hooks that they hook on the trans tunnel frame, one guy drives the lift truck, one guy guides the nose in. Easy peasy!!

Awesome now the fun starts. It was warm enough today I couldn’t help but put 20 miles on mine. If you need any other standard kit parts just let me know I still have a few from my build.

Way cheaper than the $1700 (1800 with tip) it cost to have it shipped by Stewart! Definitely well worth it, and you got to tour the plant too! I’m jealous!!!! Unfortunately not real feasible to pick it up from California. But on the California plus side I’ve met Dave a few times at the Huntington Beach show.... not to mention both Jeff’s lol Kleiner and Miller (just in alphabetical order you two) ;)
Congrats again Higgy! Looking forward to your build.
