Guys, need some help...
Does anyone know if I can get a one wire alternatior to work with the Coyote Engine and wiring harness? I am looking for a smaller alternator than the factory recommened unit.
Something like this:

(I know its a V belt, they have serpentine available as well)

There is no reason that it will not. The wiring on the Coyote did not need the alt, the alt wiring is just the 12V to turn on the alt. We modified the Ron Francis to fit the plug for the coyote and at the same time got rid of the RF second solenoid. In short it should be fine with a 1 wire. HTH, Richard.

Thanks Richard... Thats great news if I cant get the Coyote specific one to work.
There are three small wires, and the large battery wire on the alt/coyote wiring harness. I assume one of the small wires is the power that turns on the alt. Have any idea what the other two are for?
What the RF second solenoid?

The RF (Ron Francis) harness is more 87 to 92 oriented and uses a firewall solenoid, we have not used one for years, just the one on the starter. The second wire is not used, it is for a charge light which we do not use. HTH, Richard.

I used the starter solenoid in the kit as a junction block - at least until I know all of the wiring works correctly. Since I couldn't get it to start yesterday, I will try to figure it out today in between loading a moving truck before the roadster goes on a trailer.

David, if that's a Denso mini alternator, I have one that's still in the box. You can try it out if you want.

That's not what I wanted to hear two days before my first start. Any ideas why it won't fire? Did it turn over?

I used the chassis harnass started wire to solenoid (now that I think of it, it went through the first solenoid and then attached to the starter solenoid). I removed this wire all together and hooked up the coyote harnass wire straight to the starter solenoid. I also hooked up the O2 sensors (even though they are just laying in the floorboard). Then, it fired right up.
Joe - 1) do you know what the port right above the air intake is for? It runs without it hooked to anything?
2) Do you know what the port on the back of the intake is for? I am guessing this is the vacuum port.

Hey Joe,
Just saw your post. Do you have a part number so I can check dimensions? Is it serpentine or V belt?
Thanks! David

Oh, one more question... Will 65 amps be enough for the normal roadster?

65 Amps is plenty for a roadster as long as you're not using electric power steering.
