Good day all,
I have started talking to the organizers and directors of Sports Vintage Racing of America (SVRA) about having the FFRC cars qualify for their events. Most likely in 12GT1, or MP2/3 (modern production). One of the qualifications is that at least 10 cars would participate, and if there was 25+ we could get a dedicated group.

I know this section isn't as active as it use to be, but how many would be interested in this for 2020?

So I run in several vintage groups today, I don't find it useful to have a separte dedicated group, I would rather run in the larger big bore groups. Most vintage groups are respectful of the challenge car and accept this. I find the fun is running with the GT350Rs, Corvettes, Jags, Tigers, etc.

Do you run with SCCA Vintage? or another group?

I run with SOVREN http://sovrenracing.org/, SCCA Vintage and VRBC https://www.vrcbc.ca/ and some our races include SVRA run races

I spoke with Rick the Race Tech director and told me that FF Cobra did not meet the needed requirements. I have raced and hold a current SVRA License and was in hopes that I could race my Cobra with them.

I hope a bunch of racers call and help lobby them.

Thanks

Yep, that was the same as his final decision back in March of 2019. The best they could offer was a Specialty group with a 25 car minimum. It would not be added to any existing groups, and at best the specialty group would be exhibition only. The best reason given was it was not part of a professional racing series, but neither was the Spec E30 and it is allowed to run.

Guess that those of us that are interested in running vintage or similar will just need to look elsewhere.

I spoke with SVRA Sebring 2020… said they could help with group of 25. I don’t have a cage so I Time Trial with SCCA. Been on 15 tracks in 9 states. Moved from MI to Daytona 2022.

SVRA runs the vintage weekend at Road America. They already have more classes than competitors can understand, let alone spectators. Similar cars run two or three different races, then they run split starts for cars with performance disparity. The typical AP, BP race has been won for the last two or three years by a fabricated Cheetah roadster. This year they moved him to a different but similar class. Two fiberglass continuation series Cobras have run the AP, BP class but have not impressed. Since displacement is not regulated, big engines are running way more power than the cars of the sixties and seventies. The Cheetah is an example plus he runs tires offset way outside of the fenders. This is extraordinary for those of us that raced back in the day.
