Hey all, to pass compliance testing here in Australia, the chassis needs to pass a 'torsion & beaming test' as Chris Canning had done here (https://www.factoryfive.com/whats-new/component-cars-australia-gets-hot-rod-chassis-approved-for-customers-down-under/). As you can see in the link, a beam and gusseting has been welded in across the body at the firewall, level with the bottom of the chassis.
Can anyone with an LS3 fitted confirm the position of the bellhousing in relation to the bottom of the chassis? i.e. can I run an RHS as per the pic without hitting the bellhousing?

Chris is no longer in business and I can't tell from the pic what engine he's used. I know 'Barrel' has had this done but he's running a Coyote.

I'm using an LS3 but with a 4L65e tranny.
The bottom of my bellhousing is even with the bottom of the engine where they met. I would suspect a manual tranny bellhousing would be the same.
I laid a piece of angle iron across the bottom of the frame, the bellhousing/engine mating is 1" above the angle iron.

Thanks JimLev. Excuse my simplistic 'microsoft paint' sketch, but have I interpreted correctly?

It looks like if I weld the beam below the chassis rails as per Chris Canning's pic I should have enough clearance :D

Yes, your drawing is correct.
