View Full Version : Ebrake cable chaffing

Hello all,

I just installed my ebrake cables and handle and think I ran into an issue. Both ebrake cables have already rubbed though the plastic cladding on the cable where they connect to the caliper. The cable itself has not been damaged yet, but I assume it would be shortly. Did I miss a step? Should I have used a heavy grease or something else to prevent this chaffing?

For starters you have the calipers mounted on the wrong sides. Looks like you only switched them to be ahead of rather than behind the axle however when you do so you have to swap calipers side to side. Doing so will have them oriented so that the bleeder is at the top, the parking brake actuator lever will be on the bottom and the cable will come to the caliper from below the axle tube. Refer to the photo below and you'll see that yours are opposite.

That would probably do it. I'll get them swapped and recheck for rubbing. Thanks.
