I am getting conflicting information when researching driveshaft length need for an AOD transmission. The engine is a 302 out of a 1991 LX, and I am mating it with an AOD out of the same car.

Will the driveshaft that is supplied with the MKIV complete kit work?

Some research has shown that the same length will work, while other research says that it will not. Thanks.

The 28-spiline driveshaft that is included with the complete kit is the correct length for a 302 with an AOD transmission. It is SKU# 14776.

Best regards,

Brian,

What is the length of that Driveshaft? (sku #14776)

I finally got to the point of installing the driveshaft I have in the kit (10.375") and it is about 1.25" short of where it should be...the picture of the driveshaft (sku #14776) looks longer then the one I have. But I can only compare with the photo of it online right now.

Everything seems lined up, just short so I am not sure if I have the incorrect driveshaft or if I need something custom.

The current length we are shipping for that drive shaft is 10.625". It used to be slightly different. How much of the yoke is exposed from the back of your transmission?

Appr. ~2.5" from the yoke radius to the tailshaft...I heard 1.5" is acceptable with 1" being preferred?

The 3-link rear is resting on jack stands so the rear is bearing the weight of the car....any suggestions?
