hood fitting to side panel

got nose cone on and lined up with body section that comes forward. Put side panel on and seems to fit well. When I set the hood on, it appears that I will have to trim away all material that is below the body line of the hood to make body line of hood to line up. Don't know if that will be enough in front. Has anyone else had to trim this much off the hood.

I am fitting mine right now as well. On first setting everything in place mine looks to be the same situation as yours.

I trimmed most of mine off as well to get the correct gap.

I had to trim quite a bit off both the front and back of the hood to get a good gap

Welcome to the club, in my case I not only had to rim the hood lip but I also ended up taking slices out of the side panel as well to get the best fit. I first fit the hood, then I fit the side panels. Basically it was easier for me to modify the side panels than to mess with the hood other than removing the lip. I posted the whole process on the Facebook Factory Five 33 builders page, search "Andreas" then look at the post of August 8th, 2018, bunch of pictures there on what I did and where I ended up. Here are a few pics of what i had done.

1/4" and 1/8" masking tape are your best friends here to get nice straight accurate lines and cuts

Hi Bill,
It looks like you have another seam in the lower body part that comes forward. Did you cut that in yourself. If so what was your reasoning?

I also had to cut a wedge out of the side panels after I had fit the hood. I trimmed the bottom of the hood so that there was a nice straight edge approx 1/2 inch below the molding, then fit the side panels to that. Needed to trim more from the rear of the side panel than the front. I had not read about anybody doing this and really second guessed myself if I had the body in the correct location. Once I had the side panels in place I decided to modify them again so that the front portion and the head lights would be perminent, now I am debating if I will even install the rear portion of the side panels.101361101362
