HSRF and filling a hole?

I attached the hood scoop to the hood and realized that the plastic scoop isn't sitting correctly visually. I need to fill the drilled holes on one side and move them an 1/8 or 1/4 of inch inward to get the scoop to be level. My question is if I fill them with HSRF, re-drill, I will possibly hit the HSRF filler. Will the HSRF crumble from from drilling the new hole and possibly hitting the filled hole? Is there a better product to use or will this work.

The HSRF (High Strength Repair Filler) has shavings of fiberglass mixed with the filler. That's what makes it High Strength. You will be fine drilling. I would chamfer the holes that you have now to make sure it bonds well with the surrounding fiberglass (not gelcoat).

If there are holes that won't come in contact with the drill bit, Body filler should be fine over gel coat in those areas.

I'll leave it to the professionals to correct me if necessary. :)

Thank you. By the way do you know if i can use Bondo Glass Reinforced Filler as I have it on hand.

There is no reason to use HSRF or a glass reinforced filler in such small holes.

Even though i need to drill a hole next to it or partially invading the filed hole? What should I use?

I would be ok using body filler.

the good thing about the fiber reinforced is that its water proof
the lightweight and regular filler will absoarb water which can cause paint problems

Soooo, if you move the scoop and the holes you are filling are on the outside edge of the scoop I recommend HSRF with liberal cup grinding of the hole. If it will still be under the "target" area then just good o'l body filler will do...da bat

Be aware that HSRF is significantly harder than most products. That makes it hard to sand just the filler because you end up taking more off the surrounding area. So don't build it up in thickness above the hood surface. If you have a small divot after it hardens, then a bit of standard filler will bring that up to flush.

Thanks all. Any difference between HSRF and Bondo short strand fiber filler? I happen to have that at home.

Just a lot. I would say if you are maybe 5-6 months out from paint you could use what you have (shrinkage). Cup them out the size of a nickel and 1/3 the depth. Use something rough like 36-40gr for final scratch before application.
