Adhesive to Bond Metal Plate to Body Question

A little background:

I've got an old 'tweener' (kind of between a Mark 1 and a Mark 2) and my original painter (Ken Pike, aka Streetrod Painter) bonded four plates with bolts/threaded rod to the body of my car so it'd have hidden body mounts.

Anyway, a couple of months ago I removed the body on my car for some winter mods and one of the body mount plates popped off.

What's the best adhesive to use to remount the plate?

(I've been searching the forum and it looks like a popular vinylester-friendly adhesive is 3M high strength repair filler. If that's the one, is there more than one, such as marine vs. non-marine, etc.?)

I used 3M 46012 to mount the pads for my side louvers. That's the one I'd recommend.

3M HSRF is probably the most common and what many have used including me. 46012 = pint, 46013 = quart, 46014 = gallon. It's specifically a vinyl ester product, same as the body. It is primarily a filler, according to the 3M instructions. But also works very well for bonding, also briefly mentioned in their instructions. My experience is that if the surfaces are thoroughly roughed up, e.g. 40 grit, and then cleaned (I use lacquer thinner) it's nearly impossible to separate. I recall some of the body guys mentioning using it for the hidden mounts you describe.

I don't know how this stuff holds up compared to HSRF.. but.. I've used it for a few minor repairs and wow is it ever freakin strong when it's cured.

It's not exactly cheap, but at least for a small amount, it a lot less money than a container of HSRF.
