I'd like to here from the community how you acquired and built your roadster with these options.
Heater : FFR offering a heater core? Or any other options? Vent/duct - how to?
A/C : how to mount? Original mustang A/C compressor mount usable?
Stereo : must have. Where do you put the speakers? Bass?
Cup-holders : Cannot see how I can get 2 side-by-side in the MK4. How did you do it?
Thanks, Jake.

Heat and air call Richard Oben at North Racecars, a vendor here. Cup holders get at any boating supply store .... HTH; Steven

On the cup holders, there are several options depending on what the structure below the trans tunnel turns out to be. As Steven said, a boat supply for the recessed cup holders, and this one I found at Groit's Garage. Surface mount, same as the Mercedes units. HTH Hank

Jake, if you measure carefully you can have 2 recessed cup holders that are even, not staggered. Maybe your Mk4 is different but my Mk3 had a diagonal 3/4" bar on the top of the tranny tunnel. I put the aluminum panel in place and then marked the position of the diagonal bar on the panel from the bottom. Depending on the diameter of your cup holders (from Rex Marine or similar place) you then cut the 2 openings that keep the cup holders even and the diagonal bar between them. I put in the large cup holders and then there was enough space to add insulating holders (cozies?) to keep the drinks cold and snug. After 9,000 miles I was very glad I did this - for drinks, phone and lots of other stuff. Oh, I almost forgot: The first time I drove the go-kart the cup holders shot upwards at about 30mph. Add some silicon seal to keep them in place.

No to the AC, not sure that makes much sense. Definitely a set of seat heaters, then maybe a heater. No to cup holders, I don't eat or drink in my car.

Nothing wrong with adding a heater. AC is a waste of money and space if you don't have a top. My speakers are behind the carpet on the back wall. No radio just a amp and a MP3 player that you can't hear all that well due to the stereo exhaust. Cup holders are easy to do in a Mk 4, I have two in mine in the console below the dash.

I have the FF heater/defroster and am just about ready to start mounting it. Question to those who have one - is it worth the effort? Would you do it again? I really wonder if a defroster - without AC to dry the input air - in an open cockpit is really going to do anything. I live in NC so the heater might be somewhat useful but I note that it looks like it would just blow air on the passenger..not me!
