Depending on the donor vehicle, most OEM wheels are 6.5 or 7" wide and an offset of roughly 55 et. Most people could get an 8" wide wheel in their Subaru's, wagons had to roll their fenders and find camber. Going wider and sedans had to do the same. With the track version in mind, wider wheels would be better, but with the gelcoat body rolling fenders isn't exactly something that could be done. I'm curious what Dave thinks the max width could be on this car with proper offset for clearance. Is a 9" wide rear wheel possible?

I have a feeling they are a long way away from knowing what the max width will be.

I hope there is enough room to fit a wide rear wheel.

Offset is also a function on handling, not just looks, so keep that in mind. It changes scrub radius for instance.

Above all, the 818 is a budget car, so it will be designed with the wheels and tires from a donor Subaru, specifically the WRX. The WRX has P225/R17 tires all around, which if anything, are oversized for the 818. The 818 will route all of its power to 2 wheels instead of 4, but it will carry half the weight. The weight, in fact, is closer to the Arial Atom, which has P195/R15 tires all around and similar power. I really doubt that there would be any advantage to increasing the tire width in the rear. Doing so would only increase weight. Increasing weight at the wheels especially hurts because wheels carry rotational inertia as well as linear and contribute to unspung weight. Since the 818 will likely sit around 60-65% of its weight over the rear wheels, it will probably be advantageous to decrease the size on the front tires.

Agree. Apparently some 15" wheels will fit over some WRX brakes, but I believe there is limited selection. Thankfully this is something that can be left entirely to the builder...

WRX came with 16" wheels 2002-2005 I believe.

Yeah but wide wheels look nice.

Enkei RPF1 17X9 +45mm with 255/40/17's all around is what I would like to see fit. 255/40/17's are the best performance for your $$$ track tires out there...

I have a set of Volks CE28 17x7.5 +44 225/45/17 on one of my cars. Hoping these will fit.

Nice wheels! I think you'll be good with those. I'll venture to say that anything in a 5 x 100, 16 x 6.5/7 to 18 x 9, ET35 to ET50/55 are going to work fine.
