Looks like my engine will be here on Friday from BP. I asked Johnny for a dyno sheet and torque numbers look really good with 455 lb-ft at 2500 rpm, maxing out at just over 500. I thought I'd share in case anyone is thinking about this particular engine.

Thanks Dave and Steve. I'll be going carb! If all goes as planned, I'll be putting engine and trans together this weekend.

nice numbers and gobs of power, get ready to brake the tires loose at will. I am getting used to my car at the moment and its just wheel spin city even with the wide 315 rear tires.

I was reading your post earlier about tire spin. I’m sure it will take a little practice and discipline to keep everything civil.

I bought the same motor but went with Holley EFI Sniper system. Made maybe 10hp less than your's did, but I doubt I'll miss them at all!

Great numbers. I bet the cam isnt too radical either. Very driveable and more than enough power.

Consider getting a Rev-Limiter and set it low and work your way up.
I added one when I replaced my block and in my case the unit is easily adjustable.

https://www.jegs.com/i/MSD-Ignition/121/8727CT/10002/-1

The car starts spinning the wheels by rolling on the throttle at or around 2600-2800 RPM's, but hits the limiter at 4000.
This is how I'm learning to stay out of the ditches as I work through my Go-Karting testing phase.

The MSD Distributor that comes with the BluePrint Engine has a built in Rev Limiter, very easy to set and Oh, Yeah, I'll be setting mine...

mine is set to 6200 rpm on the fitech. My right foot is my rev limiter. If she starts to slide out from under me I let up a bit very quickly. Run dual (skinny spring inside larger spring) return springs, make the skinny pedal stiffer. You will be glad you did.

Got some stuff done tonight and sat in the car and rowed some gears. All fluids are in the car. I am using 30 weight zinc Amsoil for break-in (second oil change with different oil and filter). AMsoil Synthetic AT trans fluid in the t5z and amsoil in the rear gear. The coolant is Prestone Concentrate (17 a gallon).

Got the gauges in the car using the provided dash from ffr. I hate it and I am going to change it.

Also completed my gas pedal install. I used clean looking fox rubber pads and the FFR pedal. I really like this pedal. The FFR cable kept coming undone so I went to pep boys and bought the LOKAR 36 inch cable and throttle linkage bracket. 100 bucks and done. I must of spent most of the day messing with the crappy FFR throttle cable. Throw it out! I used 4 washers and a bolt to make my cable stop. I also checked it against my FITECH computer. at the stop I am at 100.5% WOT. Very happy with the feel. Its very stiff with the extra springs and will allow me to not blip the throttle unless I hammer it. Much more control.

Looks good!

As other have said, rev limiter. Also, please put tires on your car that are up to that level of performance. 200 treadwear is what I run with a 500hp 347.

Always be prepared for it to break loose as the RPMs climb. Mine comes on like a freight train at 4000rpm.
If it starts to break loose, roll out of the throttle and the car will grip. DO NOT completely lift. You can get a lesson in trailing throttle oversteer on a panic lift.

I recommend doing at least a couple autocross events to learn what you and the car can do.

Thanks Avalanche...As Carl said, the BP engines come with the rev limiter, so should be good to go there. I've got the Nitto NT555 G2's, which have a 300 treadwear. I'm assuming that should be sufficient.

I think I'll treat the car breaking loose like I do when driving in heavy rain. As you start to hydroplane, roll off the throttle and the tires will grip. Would love to do some autocross events when the time comes. I'll have to look into what's available around here. Maybe there are a couple that would like to join me!

I have NT555 G2's with 50 miles on them right now. The rubber is still very hard and I am not impressed with the grip. 275 front 315 rear. I wish i had gone with nt01's

I feel your pain, but in a bit smaller tire combo with 245/40-17's up front & 285'/40-17's out back.
I went through three (3) sets of the 555's on my former daily driver and they were great, so great that I put them on my MK-4.

The problem is that my former beloved C-4 had a 1/11 Horse Power to Weight Ratio and my Roadster is very likely at 1/5, maybe 1/6 at the very least.

Man that sucks guys! I've got 255 in the front and 315 in the rear. Guess we'll see!

Just saw this about the Nitto 555 G2's:

NOTE: This is a high-performance tire intended for use during summer months or warm temperatures only. Use during cold weather will greatly reduce performance, traction and handling, and greatly increase stopping distance. If using this tire in a drag or track environment during cold weather, we strongly recommend performing a pre-run burnout to nominalize the tread compound's temperature.

Guess I'm glad I live in Florida....
