I am adjusting the brake light switch supplied with the MK4 complete kit. On my Ron Francis Manual (Revision S, February 2017) it says to hook up the wires to a specific set of terminals on the switch. However, when I use my multimeter continuity tester, that switch terminal is normally a closed circuit. When I push on the brake pedal, the circuit opens. Is that correct for the brake lights? The other set of terminals labeled "clutch switch" is just the opposite. It is normally an open circuit and when I press on the pedal, the circuit completes. I'm not an electrical guy but I can follow schematics and directions. Am I missing something here about the brake light electrical system and just not getting it?

I had the same issue and switched the wires to the other terminals and all was fine. Interestingly, the other switch worked as described in the manual for the clutch safety switch. Just wire them whichever way works.

98141 Use the "clutch" set of contacts. (Switch at rest/plunger out, the circuit should be closed)

My experience was consistent with Papa. The documentation is actually incorrect. Joel

Thanks gents

I asked a separate question earlier asking how to wire my tail lights. Now that I know the terminals depicted in the manual for the brake light switch are incorrect, the rest of the brake wiring now makes sense to me.
