Hi all, Rico here, been in love with the snake since the first time i seen her! I was medically retired from the Marines and have a lot of time on my hands, so me and my wife discussed it and she asked what would be my dream car, and after showing her what FFR does she thinks its a great idea, hopefully in the next few months the kit will b e ordered, just got to pay a few other things first, and then the questions will begin!

thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!!!

right now my biggest issue is deciding on carburated of fuel injection, i dont plan on doing any serious racing, maybe take it to an autocross event once every 5 years, i do live right next to a dragstrip though so i might take it there every now and then. picking a direction to go with it seems impossible.

i did find some good deals on wrecked 05-09 mustangs, problem is Ive never dealt much with fuel injection.

anyone use an 05-09 mustang as a donor?

Thank you for your service Rico!! And welcome to the forum!

You’ll hear a million reasons on here why to go carb or F/I. I think it’s all personal preference... Horsepower wise they are pretty much the same. Better throttle response with F/I though.
EASY decision for me though.... carbureted!! I’m a true OLD gear head. I can take a Holley apart in the dark blindfolded behind my back lol Same with a carter AFB. (Although AFB’s were less finicky) I sold them and worked on them while working in a speed shop for years in the late 70’s early 80’s. If I’m 2 hours out in the middle of nowhere I want to be able to work on it. Hmmm I wonder if Mallory still makes a dual point distributor LOL!
Just my 2¢

Yes!

You will not go wrong with either. I wanted old school so I went with a Holley carb. But, FI is not a bad idea either. They have some like the sniper that fit the same as a carb and can replace a carb. They have a self learning computer so having to find a tuner just for a daily driver is not an issue.

Thank you for your service
My middle son just completed his 13 week "vacation" at Parris island and combat training. Now off to MOS school at 29 Palms.
With regard to EFI vs Carb. I just completed 2 1966 mustang restomods one of each. For me the EFI was challenging but pulling everything out of one donor and an American Autowire harness made it doable. As others have said its a personal preference, for me I like the look of a carb for the Roadster, it just seems to fit. Whichever you choose good luck and again Thank you for your service
