The most active subforum on your site needs an update. Something must be happening that you can report on.

These guys may demand that you go thru a airport scanner and have Federally issued ID before they accept who you are!:D

If you get a good looking airport screener I would even ask for the pat down instead!! :)

I just got back from the mother ship and have some good news to report. Give me an hour or so...

quote; "These guys may demand that you go thru a airport scanner and have Federally issued ID before they accept who you are" HA! My family drove thru Canda and it turns out that my 9 year old son Adam Smith is on a terror watch list of some sort... My wife and I were relieved to know that we werent the only ones who thought he was a terrorist.... Ha.

Seriously, update on 818 shortly

He must have meant in Japan Standard time :) Glad you're back Dave. Sorry your son is a terrorist.

I think that is a label that fits most 9 year old boys.... We will be doing some Q&A today and tomorrow. The official schedule for unveiling our first models (2) in 1/4 scale will be about two weeks from now (as soon as the RISD team is done with car #1). I was pretty clear hwen we started the project and especially after the open house event and design contest conclusion, that we would be going to 1/4 scale models next (handmade and computer printed). We are also doing some full-scale hand shaping which is going pretty good, but not ready for public eval.

I made another post for a Q&A with the head of the modeling team, Michael Lye on another thread.

Dave,
It has been more than two hours since your last update! When will we know more? Is this project still happening? I can't take waiting any longer!

I heard they were finalizing some mods so the Bugatti Veyron V16 would fit in..:D

While waiting for more news on the models, we could work on the name. The name for the new Subaru sports car often used in Japan is Hachi Roku which is Japanese for 86 taken from an earlier Celica. We could use "Hachi Go" which is 85 in Japanese. 818 in Japanese would be Hachi Ichi Hachi which does not roll off the tongue very well! Factory Go Racing has a nice ring to it as well!

A seperate thread with a thousand name suggestions has already been done.

Guys, I'm sure some of you follow FFR on Facebook. If you remember, there's a hurricane coming. They are in prep for this as we speak.

Hope the hurricane dissipates and doesn't cause any damage, and your preparation for the storm stops damage or minimizes it.

Irene hasnt done too much in MA at least around where Factory Five is. I live about 20 minutes from them and all I have seen is a few branches fallen. We havent even lost power (even tho we know a few people that lost it for about an hour).

I think Dave has been abucted again. Have you been able to go-kart this little tarmac terror yet .... I'm sure we'd all love to see some juicy little morsel we can speculate wildly on ... SEMA's still two monthe away and the drool bucket needs to be ... on a more serious vein, can you tell us how much room there is between the front of the motor and the back edge of the frame rails that will make up the firewall?

For a bird's-eye view of frame space available, see BeerBaron's Post #47 in the Subaru Power Q&A Thread.

Good question.

For the record, this would be a Subie Go-Kart.

Quiet a bit smaller than the FFR template, not sure how many of us would want to squeeze into it though.

I was supposed to be at Rhode Island School of design yesterday and it was cancelled. I'll post pix of my hometown Barrington RI which got HAMMERED... still not as bad as it couldve been. The next step is to show the 1/4 scale models and they (actually now 5 of them are being worked on) are nearing completion. Havent spent any time go-karting, but the fuel tank is no loger below the seat (dont know if we let that one out) so there is alot more cockpit room. I have a mountian of unreturned calls and emails so Im working on the site (818) and the model releases.

Did you get power back yet? I'm still waiting (CT), but most of my office mates have it back now (and of course office never lost power, bummer). Lots of backroads still blocked by trees (and wires) around my neighborhood. I feel for you if still no power, with kids, and an anxious group of clients clamoring for project updates and progress.

Gas tank moved, horah! As a member of the wookie headroom club, VERY pleased to hear that.
