View Full Version : Brake Line too tight?

Hey guys. Does this rear brake line look too tightly curved? I realize it’s designed to flex and it’s not kinking anywhere but wasn’t sure how it would sit once on the ground. Left side is good to go but the mount is on the upper tube instead of the cross tube which gives it a wider birth.

Looks OK to me, however, if you check with the hose manufacturer they can give a spec for minimum radius.

Thanks Mike. Do you happen to know who FFR uses? These are stock brake lines from the kit.

LOL...yeah, left the torque wrench in the tool box this time.
Loop is probably OK but a bit tighter than I'd like to see if it was my build. You may be able to soften it up by reattaching it ~80-deg clockwise and an added benefit would be that the register in the casting would provide an anti-rotation stop for the fitting. I've never had a banjo fitting come loose but I've never liked that a flexing hose can impart a rotational force on the fitting and I always try to align them so that rotational force is tightening the fitting not in the direction of loosening it.
Probably the most concern is making sure the hose itself doesn't rub on anything during suspension movement.

Thanks NAZ. I had it that way originally, but thought that maybe once the tire was mounted, because it looped outboard of the caliper a bit, that it would make contact with the inner hub. No way to know until I mount it up I suppose, but I'll take a look and make a determination.
