View Full Version : Am I going to have interference between my reservoirs and the hood?

Someone on Facebook mentioned that my reservoirs may be a little high. I measure that they are 1/4" above the height of the frame tube. Will I have interference with the hood? If so, how low should I drop them - tops of the caps even with the top of the tube?

I'd say yes. I battled height in that area too and found that being below the 3/4" tube was the best thing to do.

If you want to really check, the body sits on the 3/4" tube when you install. Go put your hood on the body and measure to see if you have a gap. can you show the other side of your reservoirs? If those socket head cap screws are what is holding on your bracket, you have a choice. Put 1/2" spacer (some washers or a bar) between the brace and the 3/4" tube so that the caps are 1/4" below the 3/4" tube instead of above.

And use loctite. doesn't look like you'll have an easy time to get to those when the body is on :)

Dad & Shark,

Mine clears the hood so that 1/2" spacer should do the trick.
You can see my reservoirs in the beginning of the attached video.

Hope this helps!

They're fine. Mine on #8674 are about the same. The top of the caps are approx 1/4-inch above the top of the hood tube, and clears the hood pretty easily. Keep in mind the body sits 1/4-inch or so above the hood tubes. Plus the hood arches up at a pretty sharp angle. If it helps you sleep at night, lower them to where the top of the caps are the same as the top of the hood tubes. Will give you plenty of clearance.
