I have a husky greyhound mix I think was beat. Got him at 2 years old and have had him for 3 years. What do you all think is his skiddishness causal factor?

Has the dog bonded with any of your family members? We had a rescued terrier (Yorkie) that acted in the same way. Would only go to my daughter. He is her dog now. What if you go outside - will the dog follow you? Obviously, I have limited experience with this behavior, but I know it can take years for them to get over prior abuse.

He is a rescue. Bonded very well with my wife and daughter.

Wow, I had a rescue Pig Dog (Pit Bull / Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix) and it took a while to loosen for her up enough to trust us, but after couple of years she was one very happy pooch. You just couldn't make any quick moves or she'd flinch, but nothing like the video that you posted. That's one scared dog.
Does this critter ever look happy or better yet even wag his tail?

Yes. More so around my wife and kids. He is scared of adult males unless sitting down on the floor.

Trying turning him into a "Lap Dog" for a few of weeks.
Though I'm no dog whisperer, it worked wonders for our Pig Dog (Scary Mary) even though she tipped the scales a tad over 80 pounds.
Once we got her to trust us we were able to turn her into lap sitting, best jogging partner ever, a pickup truck riding junkie.

We have a rescue dog as well. She was listed as Flat Coat Retriever. You certainly can't tell her breed from looking at her. One of these days we'll do a DNA on her. She was afraid of steps when we got her but she finally got over that after about a year. Her biggest issue is traveling. She won't get in a vehicle voluntarily and when she's in, she never moves. We have traveled across the country with her and sometimes she'll go a day or longer without drinking, eating or voiding. She's definitely an Omega dog. I've tried lap sitting but she doesn't stay long and I won't force her. She gets TONS of love.
