granted this is a lot of information and a crap load of links but its not all that there is.. like i said this is what i recommend.. ultimately my advice for you is to shop around.. ive tried to compile the most advanced products to include for this list at the lowest price. but there could be better gear/prices out there.. take a look hope.

its not that confusing.. for the top setup its just plugging in usb connector(like putting in a thumb drive) and running some cables. the top project is so easy that if you can surf the internet and can build a component car (basically if your on this forum) you can put a car pc in your car! and if that isnt simple enough there is even another solution out there that is as easy as replacing a stereo deck and it can be found here http://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/cpc1000.aspx . its an all in one in dash unit

A,
Are the reverse camera inputs directly connected to the double din monitors and activated with reverse regardless of the monitors status? If there is a double din with that capability I will be leaning toward a carputor set. That way I can start with a minimum setup and built or revert to a double din head unit.

It works if you have the car pc come on with ignition/acc which is easy to do

Is the video fed directly to the monitor or does it have to go thru the PC?
