Maybe some out there has though about this one more than i have and could help in this thought process.

Secondary Restraint System (SRS) / Airbag

Concept:
Transplant the SRS from the Corvette into the GTM. theoretically this could work.. at least as far as i can tell from the research Ive done into it GIVEN THAT the distance from the non deployed airbag station min/max (where the airbag sits and where the passenger/driver sits) is similar in relation from the Corvette to the GTM. I have also given some thought into the type of sensors to use and additional airbags that could be integrated (side curtain.) According to the research that Ive done if the distances from airbag in the donor car and the distance from the airbag in the GTM are the same then there would be no problem in registering the vehicle AS LONG AS the distance min/max is the same +/- an inch (aprox.) Now for the side curtain there really is no set distance for min/max. the only problem here would be finding one that covered the side window "nicely". that would involve measuring the exposed window(read window opening) and finding one that is similar in another vehicle and modifying the harness to fit(read changing plugs out to match/adding plugs in )

Dont think it'll work...

Well, when i say "wont work", what i mean is, it'll work, yeah, no problem, but it'll probably kill you while doing its thing. Dont forget, GM spent millions of $$$ making that particular airbag system to work exclusively for the Corvette. Its designed to inflate and deflate, absorb your movement/rebound you in a certain way so that it works in conjunction with the geometry of the Corvette's cockpit. Putting that airbag into a GTM which is a lot more cramped and totally different inside, would probably be a really, really, REALLY bad idea. It'll probably rebound your head straight into that roof line roll bar thats right next to your temple.

I liken it to, trying design and build your own airplane from scratch... But, out of chalk. Will it fly? Probably. Is it a good idea? No.

Then again, Jim Turner Racing in Germany claim to offer their "GTO" (in other words, a GTM supercar) with airbags. So you could try to contact them and see what they say... But, i doubt very much that they used the Corvettes SRS system.
