After spending a lot of time under the car with the Corvette (and Honda) e-brake cables, I don't like what they offer. The GTM needs an asymmetric cable system. Controlcables.com looks promising, but I think the WILWOOD kit would give more on-site flexibility.
My only concern is tying into the caliper, on the Corvette the cable hooks onto a lever on the caliper, hopefully this kit can reproduce that. There's also a tension spring at the caliper, but I should be able to delete that, may have to add a spring elsewhere in the system.

Yeah.....the ends that hook over the lever on the brake drum is going to be the problem I see with that kit. I know California Push Pull can custom make you any cables you would like....you'd have to send them your old C5 cables and they build new ones to any length you want. Other than that, I'm sure you could fab up something to work yourself, but it might involve a lot of piddling around......

Looking at it....the only other thought I have is that I could plasma cut some "loops" out of steel that would fit over the lever and we'd have to get creative on how to attach those Wilwood cable ends to the steel loops. You could cut your old cables, remove the spring and install it on you new cable and then figure out a method to attach the new cable to the loop?

I'll see what my options are when the kit arrives.
Am I missing something with the Corvette system? I couldn't find a way to get everything into proper position to work like it should, because we are forced to create an asymmetric system rather than the centered system the Corvette cables were designed for...

The only way to do it with the existing C5 parts is to stretch the cables over to the rear hubs, routing them under the oil pan...and they're stretched tight....and then you just wedge the "splitter box" between the engine and motor mount.
Not sure if you have seen my E-brake kits?...I forget what you're running for an engine?

These kits extend the rear cables just a bit and allow the cables to route under the transaxle instead of under the oil pan where they become the lowest point on the car and in danger of snagging on anything and everything. One rear cable is longer than the other, so you want to be sure that you have the longest cable routed to the LH side.

I did see your kit, but I didn't look at the details close enough! I thought it was just a way to mount the Corvette bracket to the oil pan, but now I see it is a lengthened bracket? Does it also replace the single front cable?

No....the single cable is used as-is.....same with both rear cables. Basically just uses the oil pan as the "splitter box" and the links lengthen the cables enough that they aren't stretched tight like before. I don't think these work with the Mendy as the starter and adapter plate are in the way?

I have an LS3 with the crate oil pan, g96 gearbox.
I probably should have tried your kit instead of ordering the Wilwood one. One thing I am toying with is mounting my e-brake handle on the floor by my left hand to clean up the area between the seats.

On your car, that might be a good option. On a "normal" GTM, the door protrudes into the cockpit to the point where it's already almost up against the seat....there's no spare room at all on the left side of the seat normally.

This Wilwood kit is really simple and actually works well with the GTM/C5 calipers. The clevis on the caliper end basically fits the caliper perfectly, it is just a little wide and just needs ground down on one side to avoid rubbing on the caliper body.
Here's the Wilwood clevis compared to the C5.

Modified clevis fits the caliper perfectly.

Sheath mount also fits the caliper perfectly. There is a spring on the Corvette cable to help release the brake, I also can feel a release spring in the caliper itself so I didn't rig up an additional spring, I'll watch that closely.

Shifter handle will be mounted basically where it is normally mounted in the GTM, but using a Civic/Del Sol e-brake handle, it's less bulky than the C5 one. Mounting the e-brake handle left of the driver seat worked fine but in the extended position was slightly above the door bars which would have been a little in the way of getting in and out of the car.

Routing is pretty straight forward, along the oil pan, sweep around under the rear of the transaxle, through a hole drilled in the splash guard aluminum, to the caliper. Gently sweeping curves and plenty of clearance from the wheel rim, nowhere near the axles.

There's no usable location on the GTM to mount the Wilwood 'housing adjuster' so I welded in a small crossbar to mount it to. All you do is figure out how much length of sheath you need, trim it up, and mount to the housing adjuster.

Looks like you got that kit all figured out.
Are those different shift cables you got there?

The shift cables are outsourced by California Motorsports where I bought the transaxle and components, I don't remember what brand they are. If you want to know, I can call for you or you can contact CMS. They seem to be really high quality. They were included in my package so I don't know their specific cost.

As I have posted elsewhere, http://www.controlcables.com/ will make you anything you want. Cheap, very high end, whatever. All custom made to your specifications.

Of course. I just wanted to make it clear that there are other threads in regards to cable options and so a search may be fruitful. :) IIRC most of them are about transmission shifter cables, but, as I said, Control Cables will make anything you may need.
