Definitely a milestone for us a LONG time in the making. GoDadGo, the car does have a GM connection, the heat shielding you mentioned was from a local (unfortunately now gone) Pontiac dealer. I believe they were a "Customer Parking Only" sign. Nice, thick , durable, heat dissipating aluminum. Hopefully our go-cart is not too far off.

Mike, looks and sounds great! I can relate to your "long time in the making" comment... If you end up like me, you'll start thinking about changes you can make now!

Al, about the only change I think I'm going to make, as of now anyway, will be the seats. I also need to make room for my extra wide size 12 shoes. Pushing on the pedals is a real challenge, and that's just sitting in the driveway, haven't go-carted yet.

Mike,
Your motor sure is purdy! Sounds nice too.
One question if I may; It seems like the fan kicked on super early. Was the car already warm? I noticed this was the first RECORDED start. If you were starting from ambient temperature that fan seems like it kicked on too early.
Congratulations! I sure know how that feels!

Holy smokes, it's been a decade of fun since then!

David,
First of all I'd like to say/admit I am not the primary builder of my car, mainly the owner and financier. Even though I have helped with every aspect EXCEPT wiring. That being said I too thought the fan was quite loud. Questioned my uncle (the builder) and he said that the low speed is always on, and that high speed will kick in when it reaches 190-195 (whatever our thermostat is). If this doesn't seem normal to you guys I will question it again, he's not always right. And yes, this was the first RECORDED start. Started approximately 10 other times.
Yeah the motor is pretty darn good looking, as much as a DOHC 4.6 can look anyways. Not bad looking for a 04 out of a Mach 1 with 78,000 miles on it.
Mike.
