I have Hooker ceramic coated headers and have been thinking about wrapping them with exhaust wrap this winter to help reduce the heat in the engine compartment

Has anyone else wrapped their headers and if so was it worth the effort and what type wrap would you recommend

Thanks

Best wrap I've used is Thermo-Tec Platinum (Summit Racing sells it), good for 2000-deg and doesn't become brittle and sooty like the black fiberglass type. The heat reduction is directly tied to how thick you wrap the exhaust -- one-wrap will probably not be enough to make a noticeable difference with 50% overlap. Two-wraps should and three even better. But be advised that wrapping the exhaust on a street car will lead to corrosion as moisture and corrosive constituents become trapped between the wrap and tubing. Your ceramic coating will help resist this but I'm not confident it will completely eliminate the corrosion.

Thanks for the response it sounds like it may not be worth the effort to wrap the headers and if it causes corrosion on the headers that may result in an expensive replacement especially if FFR no longer stocks BBF headers in the future

I wouldn't bother. There is plenty of airflow in the engine compartment, so it should never become to hot.
