I am signed up for a three day HPDE event in Late September. This is my third year in a row for that event and fourth year for events at New Jerey Motorsports Park. Every time out, I look for one of you to share the day with and enjoy our cars......been disappointed so far. The chance to drive on a world class track with your baby is a memorable experience. Come on out and look for the little red roadster with the number 15 on the side.....we'll have plenty to talk between rounds.

I won't be there this year as I am just starting my build, however, I hope to see you there in future years. Watkins Glen is high on my list of places that I need to drive my car and I love HPDEs. I will be sending my good weather vibes your way. Hope you have a blast and everything goes well.

Good luck with the build and maybe one day I'll see you out on the course. Yeah, that weather is always an issue; I've missed more events due to bad weather then I have attended during good weather.

That's an awesome offer Walt!! With the Glen almost in my backyard I should be there more often! However, I'm double committed in late September already. I haven't even made it to all the local SCCA events this year. The rain has been well above average this year so maybe we are due for an Indian Summer!

The NASA (National Auto Sport Association) , Northeast Division is sponsoring the event. You can join the club for $45/yr which allows you to sign up for any NASA event. After signup, go to nasane.com and scroll down to the September event at Watkins Glen and sign up for HPDE-1,2,3 or 4 depending on your skill level.
I might have to bury my foot a little deeper in the carpet if I saw a blue roadster looming in my mirror.

I have missed every event at NJMP and Pocono this year due to rain. I am depending on this Watkins Glen trip to save the season for me. An Indian Summer weekend would be wonderful.

Each of the last three years I have lost at least one day a year to rain. I don't know what it is about HPDE days that bring the rain. We have over 300 days of sunshine a year here but somehow I get rain about a third of the time I go. One time there was no lightning so it was safe for the corner workers to stay out and we were able to do a couple sessions in the rain and it was a blast and a great learning experience.

I won’t be there this year and most likely not for a couple years but Watkins Glen is on my bucket list to do. I saw a video on how the Watkins Glen road races started. You can actually drive the old course that was on public roads. The use of public roads stopped after an accident killed a young boy spectating.

Very interesting. I'll have to look up the history and maybe tour the old track while I am there. Thanks!

Waly:
The Glen is a special place. I have run SCCA events on both short and long courses - the downhill into the "boot" always got me. Anyway - enjoy every second of it.
I could not help but see where you are from. I was born and raised in Perkasie. Family still in the area, but I'm in Florida. Shoot me a PM and we will discuss Pennridge.

The downhill into the Boot always gets my attention too. It looks like a negative camber turn when you start to turn-in(it's not really), so I find myself tip- toeing through that turn every time. Last time I was up there, a guy in a Corvette kissed the wall just after and on the same side as the apex. Some turns you just respect more then others.
