Due to the fact that my dash and marine wipers further restrict the already crammed space under the dash, I had to come up with a way to get air to the cabin.
I cut off all the spouts for air delivery from the heater/cooling unit and made a combination box to have one outlet for body and feet. This will split off later again to feed 5 outlets. I had previously made one from fiberglass and a pvc coupling. Didn’t trust that combination so made one out of aluminum today.
Then ended up mounting the defroster vent on top, similar to the drivers side however instead of using the bottom feed standard unit I fabbed a box.
I also insulated the combo box to retain heat/ cool air.
The bottom of the dash pod will get foam to get a proper seal. The combo box also has foam to seal against the unit.

Looks good! It seems like you're getting down to the "punch list" items. How long/what else until it's completely done?

Doesn't seem like a lot, but with very little time available it seems to take forever.

Finish the dash

finish heat/AC control (new control for the new gen 3 looks nice with electric instead of steel cable)

Install seats

Install seat belts

Install windshield

Install doors

Apply vinyl cling ons

Install the front block off plates in front of the doors (should have installed/removed these before paint)

Reg, plates and insurance

Sure I'm skipping some things but I was hoping to be cruising all summer already. Funny how life holds up progress on these cars.
Been out of town for work a lot so don't spend much time in the garage when I am home.
Had a week off so when we came home I spend some time last weekend on it. Some of the things like this box that are custom take time to measure, fabricate and test fit several times (as you all know). No one will ever understand the thought process, time, aggravation and victories of the build unless you have build one of these.

"No one will ever understand the thought process, time, aggravation and victories of the build unless you have build one of these."

You've said a mouthful, particularly with these earlier-generation kits. But at least you are closing in on the finish line.
