Hey all. Might seem like a basic question, but when you are installing the rivnuts, whats the best way to align the holes on the piece that you are connecting? For example, the odd shaped access panel on top of the driver's side foot box or the ears off of the F panels.
I'm using the tool that Edwardb uses in his build thread, and it works great putting in the rivnut, but was just curious how everyone is aligning the rest.

Simply drill (and cleco if you wish) with an 1/8" bit as if you were going to install rivets. This will set your centers then just open those holes up to the appropriate size for the rivnut and matching fastener.

Easy enough. Thanks Jeff.

Drill the cover with your selected spacing. Drill one 1/8" hole, not too close to the opening edge. Cleco that hole and mark the rest with a pencil or felt tip. Adjust as needed. I have one rivnut close to the edge, but it works. Check twice.
