Hi folks. I'm looking to replace my GTM tail lights with something from the 21st century. I dont want you spend $900 for the Hella setup. There was another LED light setup for sale a while ago, mentioned on this forum. Does anyone have any information? There must be someone out there that did something else. Thanks, Bill

Working on this project for another forum member, who was in your same predicament, of wanting LED taillights, but not wanting to spend a fortune for it

Camaro LED taillights. Still not at the done stage, waiting for life to clear some time to finish it.

Pretty slick, nice tribute to Chevrolet, too.

The good news is that the holes for the lights will accommodate any standard IIRC 4" round tail light. I used to list a few different LED tail light options on the My Race Shop website, but everyone seemed to want something "different" and not very expensive. My suggestion is to go to a truck supply site and see if anything strikes your fancy. https://www.iowa80.com/browse/lights/LIGHTS/ is a good place to start.

Ok. Follow up. We ended up getting tractor trailer led bulbs, the kind that snaps in a rubber grommet. By grinding away about .75 inch of the stock tail light plastics bucket's 3 inner stansions (where the lenses screws go), and gringing off the lip moulded on the new lights, they fit right in. We hot glued them together. We then cut the rubber grommet in half, forming a tight fitting bezel, which covered the other glue joint, and gave the lights a custom look. The only thing about this setup is you have to use a trailer wiring converter, as these lights are brake and turn together. Old school, but led cool!
