Side louver size and location

I am planning to install my side louvers (upgrade version) and have read many posts on the topic. I do still have a couple questions.
1) when cutting the opening, should the size top to bottom be as close as possible to the dimension of the louver which measures 5”? Or should that opening be slightly smaller? If it should be smaller what should it measure?
2) my body has no cut outs. With that being said, do you all recommend the location that is outlined in the manual?

First, I'm assuming you have the side louvers on hand. You'll want to fit the opening to the actual louvers. Yes, make the opening slightly smaller than the louvers. Looks a little more finished. For me there are two aspects that make these look best: First, match the angle of the cut-out to the louvers. Second, ideally the spacing between all the louvers including to the body openings on each end is the same. Use the location described. It's fine. This is my #8674 build. These are the upgraded Factory Five louvers. Same as available elsewhere. I did have the factory cutouts. You can see how I adjusted them slightly, and then the finished product. I had mine powder coated silver. Lots of finish options including body color.

I don't know. Maybe 1/8-inch less? Whatever looks good to you.
