Hi all. I have a Ram Powergrip HD clutch 98794HDT going on a Ford sb 347 stroker with a 5 speed TKO 600 tranny going in the Roadster. I've been reading about hydraulic clutches here on the forum and online. I found a Mcleod hydraulic clutch kit at JEGs and Summitt that has a hydraulic throwout bearing system, but haven't been able to determine for sure if it will work with the Ram clutch. I've read stories online where someone will call the parts supplier about a particular part and the supplier says "yes" the part will work but then doesn't work for the application. Does anyone have experience with the hydraulic throwout bearing systems? Any recommendations other than JEGs or Summitt? Or, should I just stick with the clutch cable system? Thanks.

Dale

Forte has done some of that, you may want to check with him.

Second vote for Mike Forte's system. Advantage, the slave is outside of the bellhousing, so if it fails, it's a simple R&R operation. With the internal Hydraulic bearing such as a McLeod, you'll have to remove the transmission and bellhousing to replace it. Both will give you a nice smooth clutch pedal operation.

They do work with one another. That said Ram's hyd bearing lasts longer & is cheaper money to boot. But the trade off with a hyd throw out bearing is WHEN they fail they take the clutch disc with it & you are removing the transmission to fix. With our external hyd slave set up the hydraulics are on the outside accessible for repair and no oil goes on the clutch. Our push setup is $300.00
