Looking good! Herb you may want to reverse your top front shock bolts. If you ever want to change your front shocks or springs after you are done you would have to remove radiator or loosen all the brackets up. With the bolts reversed it it is easy for front shock work down the road. Just my 2-cents worth. I really like that yellow color.

Got a bunch done today
installed engine
installed headers - VERY tight fit but the made it ,the forth pic shows how close the headers are to the frame 3/8 inch clearance ?

installed tranny - have to make new tranny mounts they don't fit the chevy T350 , on the second pic you can see that the T350 tranny is not even close to the mount ,the reason it is to short is that the chevy engine has to move forward about 3 1/2 inches so ff make a plate that bolts onto the block and move the engine forward., thus make the tranny 3 1/2 short of the mount. but not big deal will make up a new mount plate.

There must be a good reason FFR added that from the SEMA truck. I personally like the added safety. But to each his own.

Herb
Is there anywhere high and up front that the cab attaches to the cage for support?
That cab looks pretty tall and with the fiberglass body and front hinged doors I would be worried
about cab shake at speed changing how the doors fit the body and rubbing away some paint.

Herb, the early kits just got the 33 side exhaust. You will have to modify that pipe so it exits under the bed pointing down. That is why I had some custom stuff done. If you look in the Beta manual you will see what I mean.

Well making a little progress. I am using copper tubing for many of the lines in the engine bay, overflow line , gas line, also will use copper for the heating lines.
going old school with a mechanical fuel pump.
For the wise observer you might notice that the alternator is now on the passenger side and not on the drivers side where I first put it, when it was on the drivers side it stuck past the engine compartment so it had to be moved.

Thanks for that good news on the pipes. I want them out the side also.

I did get a package from FFR yesterday with some new emergency brake components. Evidently there have been some changes there from the '33 parts, which I got with the kit. The toothed bracket is shorter and has some new attachment brackets.

Now, if I could just get the threaded shock adjusters.

Herb,

I want to ask about you about those copper fuel lines. Are you concerned about metal fatigue? Won't the vibrations from the engine running loosen the fittings, if not the lines themselves?

:)

herb fraser
09-27-2018, 04:19 PM
hi Dave fuel line no because it is hard plumbed on both ends and I used K copper which is VERY flexible and strong, there are compression fitting should also be fine . the heater lines should be OK for the same reason and where there pass through the firewall I have installed rubber grommets. BUT I plan on keeping an eye on them, thanks for your concerns, Herb
OK well now lets get to the good parts. how do you like my Door Panels ??

Yes I did decide to move them ,I thought the pulls ( doo Handles ) looked out of place the other way . And I like the clean look od the panels, I plan on putting the switches in or on the center console > I love the clean look of the panels and dahs So I will most likely put all or most of the switches in the center console out of sight

Herb that interior is absolutely stunning! I have not posted anything for a while now but I had to complement you on your build. My daughter just graduated from college so I've decided to start scrounging up my parts for a truck build as well. I've got a '98 silverado that will be giving up the engine and trasmission so mine will be a Chevy powered hotrod as well. My son just started college so it may be a year or two before I can order the kit but by then they will have all the bugs and kinks worked out. I had already planned on engine turning the firewall, as this was common way back in the day, and also on the dash and door panels. I'll be watching this build and can't wait to see how it comes out!

yep I cut it out , never like the look of the cross bar and with it removed I moved the seats back almost 2 inches and that helped a lot in giving extra leg room. my seat belts have a shoulder strap that will mount right where I removed the cross bar. Herb

We mechanical engineers call that structure "Statically Indeterminate" . Here's a wiki on the subject. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statically_indeterminate
