Hi,
I have 17" x 10.5" Halibrand replicas from ffv and the stock brakes that come with the IRS.
The brake pad clips scrape and make a nasty mark on the inside of the rims. I spoke to Dave B and he said that I needed 1/8" spacers. I couldn't find 1/8" spacers locally so I used some fender washers just to test it out. The long and the short of it was that with either 1/8 or 1/4 " spacers it still rubs. Has anyone 8773687737 else had this? Do the 17" rims not work?

Take some tin snips or a grinder and trim the tabs . . .

It looks like I could do that but it will still rub in the middle. The where it comes out at the middle sticks up just as high.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks.

Someone recently posted that FFR sent them spacers for this. The 17” wheels were supposed to come with them.

Those clips don't go there. they go in the slots on the inside ends of the caliper mounting bracket where the pads ride in and out. they squeeze the pads to keep them from rattling.

Not a Ford, but same idea.

When I pulled it apart to look at it I was thinking that I may have been missing the clips that fit in at the ends.

Dough!!!!

Hopefully I will have time this morning to do that before I leave town for the week.

Thanks Michael,
I knew it had to be something simple.

Thanks

Does anyone know what year the brakes are from?
It’s the standard rear brakes with IRS if that makes a difference.

I stopped by ford and they said that the clips were the wrong ones.
Maybe I screwed something up and somehow installed some wrong clips.

Is this the right clip? After looking online it looks like the right one. And if so how is it put in?877649

The right clip for what? the one you had mounted on the caliper gooes on the caliper bracket. As far as I know there isn't one for the caliper. The pads have a wire spring on them to keep them from rattling.

Sorry for the blurry pic but you can see where the clip goes. It's just frustrating to get them to stay while you slide the pads in.

Nice picture.
My clip looks a little different.
It has another bend.
The "its just frustrating getting them to stay while your putting the pads in" remark may prove to be the answer. Anytime I have put others in they are designed to stay in and then you add the pad. Apparently you have to put the pad in to hold them in place.

Thanks

Unfortunately I am now gone for a week before I get to try again.
