I'm looking for a Mark I kit that maybe unfinished - mostly interested in the body. My ideal find would be one of the early carbon fiber bodies. I don't need the door nor trunk as I already have them in carbon fiber. Just looking to see if someone might know of a Mark I kit, a "barn find", that never got finished. As I do not need most of the other parts anything more than the basic body will go in my parts bins.

I think they only made about 20 of those carbon bodies, right? I know Roger Stein had one but I don't know what happened with his car after he passed, let alone the body.
I didn't think your roadster body was that bad after the deer strike. Was there more not seen?
Why not ship it to da bat or Kleiner for repair??

I agree as I also think about 20 carbon fiber bodies were make. When Roger and I were out "playing on the tracks" he said he got his from FFR as the customer had it shipped to in Calif but after he saw it did not want to deal with carbon fiber. So Roger got it and did all the body work on it. The carbon fiber bodies have a lot of tiny pin holes, having to do with carbon fiber. So maybe there are others out there that people were not willing to deal with ... just hoping! :)
I have been considering taking the body off and having it redone. BUT hard to do as I'm use to all the dings and marks on the body... BUT a carbon fiber body and I'd make the switch in a NY City minute! :)
The scratch on the passenger door from a wheelchair, a boy wanted a ride in her and got too close with his chair, the cracks in the clear code from the first day I pulled it out of the old carriage house where it was assembled in and I caught the rear fender flair, the stone chips all across the front of the car from the track events, the little tree stain on the body from when one of the kids left the little tree pine smelly things on the corner of the hood, the hammer that got dropped on the car when one of the kids wanted to help, and now the deer event. Each mark on the body really does have a story, so have been reluctant to paint them over.

I don't know how many carbon fiber bodies were made, but I have one.

Mater: Oh, for a second there I thought you was trying to fix my dents.
Holley Shiftwell: Yes, I was.
Mater: Well then, no thank you. I don't get them dents buffed, pulled, filled or painted by nobody. They way too valuble.
Holley Shiftwell: Your dents are valuble? Really?
Mater: I come by each one of 'em with my best friend Lightning McQueen. I don't fix these. I wanna remember these dents forever.

Exactly how I feel - so hoped I'd find another Mark I body BUT keep my original one!
am still considering what to do! But Mater really does cover how I feel! Thanks
