I noticed this corrosion on the lower steering shaft. I'll try to clean it off with a polishing wheel and the Dremel, but what do you think? Is it worth trying to return to FFR or just cosmetic?

It looks like something was lying on it with some type of solvent and some dripped down the sides. Try cleaning it up and re coat with clear! Take the shot!

Looks like a reaction to something. Brake fluid maybe? That part of the shaft might have some sort of clear finish on it which is now stained. As suggested above scrub/sand it clean and re coat with clear.

I believe the shaft comes nickel plated. Perhaps some fine steel wool to try to polish the finish back to original?

I took a dremel with a cleaning pad to it and it looks like there is pitting in the metal where the corrosion was. I guess I'm just going to polish it up but I will email FFR about it and see what they say.

I emailed FFR asking about it and they said they would get a new steering shaft out to me. Great customer service!
