I am hoping for some input and / or a solution to a continuing problem.

I recently put in a rebuilt T-5 trans in my car, and 2nd gear has always been an issue. It seems easier to both downshift & upshift with the stock shifter, and with the Power-Tower, downshifting is very touchy. I have made all sorts of adjustments with the stops, so I know the lever is getting the full "throw" Fluid is good, and there is full clutch dis-engagement. It just seems as if the aftermarket shifter more so that the stock shifter will not fully push the internal rail for 2nd far enough.

But, conversely, the aftermarket has a much more precise action for the 4-3 downshift, which I REALLY need more on the track.

So, any thoughts?

Can it be a transmission issue? do I need to adjust the clutch?

Thanks in advance!

The aftermarket shifters have a large amount of "spring" to them vs the stock which can make the 3-2 downshift harder [having to muscle the stick more] jmso - just my stupid opinion

I think it is more of an issue of the length of the arm on the trans side of the shifter. I like the "gates" in the aftermarket, as this makes the 4-3 downshift when racing easier and more precise.

I'll also re-check the clutch for full dis-engagement when shifting.
