Guys,

I installed a Unisteer power steering rack on my Mk 4; however, the supplied mounting bushings were a little too long so instead of filing them I used the supplied FF5 polyurethane manual steering rack bushings. The fit was better but was it the right decision?

Thanks for your response,

Damien

I think you will be fine especially since FFR supplied them. I have aluminum so direct experience but they will certainly be better than OE rubber.

Yes. You should push out the stock bushing and rubber mounts and replace with the FF provided poly mounts and bushings. Some alternately use the solid mounts available from Breeze. But in all cases, the stock mounts are replaced. Pretty sure that's mentioned in the build manual.
