I replaced my old style fuel tank on my '33 today which requires a new aluminum sheet that has a cutout for the top mounted fill port.
My old aluminum sheet was even with the top 1" boxed steel that is above the tank. The new sheet is above the boxed steel piece.
Anyone know if this will cause a problem when I assemble the other trunk aluminum or drop the body on the chassis?

Anybody? Do I need to trim the top off?

Well, I don't even have a body, but if it was going to fit correctly when the original aluminum was flush, it seems logical you'll need to cut this new stuff. Otherwise everyone would be whining about the stock sheet being too short. :)

The aluminium sheet in question on my car has an arched top edge that at its midpoint is an inch above the boxed steel frame crossmember and curves down symmetrically to be near level with the frame on both sides. The curve is similar to that of the body at that point.

Mine original panel is above the frame also.

Ok, thanks for the info. Guess my original panel wasn't correct.
Bill, got the box from you yesterday, thanks.

What to do with the "new" old style fuel tank that came with my Hotrod???
It has the internal fuel pump and the level sensor installed in it right now.
