Hi Guys,

First off let me say, if you can, purchase a complete exhaust system from Boig Motorsports do so. Their exhaust systems are top notch. For me that wasn't too much of an option as I've switched transmissions from manual to automatic. I could have purchased their straight through pipe which is a great stating point for your project.

The reason I'm doing my own is the automatic is wider than the manual and to me it looked like the exhaust components would come too close to the wiring and the shift cable which would be right up against the exhaust. I played around with various configurations, and while I'm still in the beginning stages, I've come up with what appears to be a winning combination.

I started off cutting the flanged portion of the original exhaust. This cut seems to be ideal. I do not have any bending equipment, so far pre-bent tubing is working well.

I settled on the Walker 93248 which allows for various types of exhaust exit.

This allows for exiting under the engine, in the center of the body.

You can also rotate the cat for a straight exit to the rear.

Rotate the cat some more and you can exit at the rear but more outboard.

The last position is ideal for me as I am in the process of modifying the rear clip. This finished photo is NOT of my car but rather one I found while searching the web. I eventually found out his name to be rori. Here is the initial link I followed: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/350928995954746679/

The bumper cover is installed, the upper grill is held in place with duct tape which I photo shopped. BUT, the front lower bumper cover and front upper grill from a 2012 Kia Soul work nicely. Yes, quite a bit of modification is needed, however the general curvature of the parts works well on the 818. The exhaust will exit in polished stainless tips where highlighted.

I'd like to add a muffler while maintaining the cat (I LIKE QUIET CARS) but there just isn't much room. However, I've had good experience with using internal muffler baffles in the exhaust piping from Car Chemistry. The ones I will be ordering fit in 2 1/2" pipe and are only 7" long. They reduce the sound by 7 to 10 decibels.

Thanks for sharing.

You might get a muffler in there - look at mine on #47 at

Thats a Magnaflow MPE-12128 from Summit. Pushing the front of it out to the side gets diagonal to help it fit. You'd have to rotate your cat of course. Might fit, maybe not. But if you want a muffler it might be worth a look.

We sell the Car Chemistry baffles here at NCM, the 2 plate knock off 4-6db. My car with a open 3" exhaust measured at 50' from the edge of the track at the top of 3rd gear was 101db + or - a little. With the 2 plate CC Baffle I was 97db and with the Dyno Max 12" Race Muffler I am 98db.
Bob and Michaels car with just the cat is 93-95db here with a 2 or 2.5 exhaust.
