Hey everyone (and Dave)

I am very excited about this project because in the design phase it has been touted as a "world car". This made my day as I started imagining the possibilities of a well designed/packaged and shipped Right hand drive vehicle that will support the European/Australia/New Zealand markets.

But then I remembered! in America you have the "world series of baseball"... but in reality the world is not actually playing.

So my question is, will this platform be offered in left AND right hand drive? to truly be the world car you are aiming for this is a must. or is the wording misleading for us over the seas?

Nicely put Flamshackle.

I too am eagerly awaiting to see if this is available in RHD. I hope it is as I have never been as keen to see the launch of a car. I have read the complete forum several times, and from what I have learnt from all the great people on here and research elsewhere have started to put together my own spec and list of components etc.

It's like been a kid again waiting for Christmas.

Thankyou all

You don't think we would try to mislead any of our friends do you? :p From what I have read, it will be a world car, which has to mean that the steering sides will be interchangable. Now, keep in mind, I am just a prospective 818 customer like yourself. The big difference is that I have dealt with Factory Five once already. If they say they will do something, it normally gets done. I suspect you won't be disappointed.

It would depend on the donor car, right?

The only obvious difference between a RHD & LHD car is the position of the steering wheel and the dashboard. If the 818 uses the donor steering column and dash and the 818 has dual mounting brackets and apertures it could easily cater for both.

For some reason I envisaged a specific dash moulded into the body. But you're right Kach22i keep the car uniform and let the donor car determine whether you drive it on the right side or the wrong side.

You beat me to it, I was going too make a comment about driving from the wrong side. :)

I am hoping Dave Smith might chime in here and give some security/clarity around this?

Dave are you out there?

The 818 will be a LHD AND RHD car. I explained before that we are seeing more exports. Challenge is RHD and running gear, both of which have been addressed in the design stage. The World Car nomenclature was serious about exporting the FFR experience to more of the world and being less american-market centric. The bonus is there is nothing that will stop the car from doing well here in the states as well.

Still playing catch up here but I met with Mad Dog (our webmaster) and asked him to follow-up with the guys who volunteered to help publish the 700+ designs that alot of you guys asked for so long ago. I think he will be making a gallery for these design submissions. I will also try to give an update right now on the other thread (818 status report).

He never got back to me. I'm still available though.
