What holds up the weight of the front end of the roadster? I put the body on tonight and the body sits on the firewall on the seal, but in order to get the quick jack bolts in I have to lift the nose about 1/2" or more. This means the weight is on the quick jack sleeves. I expected the weight to be supported by the 3/4" square tube, but there is about 3/8" gap and I know the bumpers for the hood fitment will screw into the square tube and pull it down and put more pressure on the quick jack sleeves. I know the front body / blinker mounts will go on, but it seems with the slotted holes they will just try to slide down.
Did anyone else experience this?

The body hovers over the square 3/4" tubes by 5/8" to 3/4".
What supports the body on my car (MK-4 #8,515) are the two curvy brackets that mount to the marker lights and the front of the frame.
I've actually made a couple of 5/8" spacers that hold the body up and are right next to the hood hinges.
Just understand that his is another "Off The Reservation Go-Dad-Isms" that I did.
Hope this helps!

That is exactly how it is supposed to be and no, you do NOT run screws into the square tubes to pull the body down.

Mornin' Jeff. I'll have to check with a friend who is building his roadster. I think he received it last August. I remember in a conversation with him that the latest manual from FFR HAS you screw the body to the tubes. He decided not to because it warped the body.

Yep ! The ol' screw into tubes has missed being edited out for about 18 YEARS ! LOL ! Finish Line grommets are a great way to go for the QJ bolts. With the grommets and the "curvy brackets" it will hold the nose....da Bat

THank you everyone for the responses, I feel better knowing it hovers over the 3/4" square tube. I will hold the front end up in position and crank down the curvy body mount brackets. I have ordered a set of the finish line gromets, but felt like that was only a bandaid for the problem.
I am still left wondering if I should screw the small rubber bumpers into the fiberglass only, or through into the 3/4" square tube. By the fact that the manual tells me to put foam weatherstrip on that tube I assume the body rests on it, and the manual clearly
Move the front of the body as necessary. If the body will not stay where you put it, put a screw through
the hood lip of the body into the ¾” tube.
The hood opening is attached to the ¾” frame rails using countersunk sheet metal screws or the small
bumpers during the hood fitment next.
But I put more stock in what what is said here than what is written in the manual.
