Hi

I have read were several builders have turned their shocks upside down (body up on the Koni's), but can you do this with QA1 shocks. There is nothing on QA1 website under FAQ. Anyone done this?

Thanks

Tom, most models can be run inverted (I believe the stock mount shocks cannot). I use the Promo Star double adjustable on my 33HR and have the fronts inverted which makes it easy to get to the adjustment knobs and according to the tech guy at QA1 these have a gas bag that allows you to mount the shocks in any position and any angle. However, you need to purchase the extended coil caps to prevent the springs from rubbing each other when inverted on the front. I believe I have a photo of mine showing how close these are when inverted. Look at the album gallery for FFR 33HR Roll Cage and you may find a couple of photos showing the QA1 front shocks.

15.0" extended & 11.125" collapsed; Summit Racing part number QA1-DD403, $241.97ea. I'm currently running these on all four corners but my rear is very different than yours so you should match the rear QA1 to the Koni that came in the kit. According to my notes, the rear Koni shocks that came in my kit were the single adjustable silver body conventional oil filled shocks that could not be inverted and had 17.5" extended length with 4.188" of travel.

The extended spring caps needed for the front (so you can run the QA1 inverted) are Summit part number QA1-9018-113, $17.97ea. You'll also want to run a 9" front spring as if I remember correctly the kit supplied 10". I also run QA1 bump stops all around, Summit #QA1-BC02, $6.97ea.
