Aluminum floor not fitting it?? 33 Hotrod

I've been following the manual except for right now while I'm working on the wiring.
I wanted to see how much room I'd have with the tranny tunnel and the floors sitting in place to hide some of the excessively long wires.
I can't get the L & R floor pieces in.
I can see that without the firewall installed the front vertical edges would fit thru the frame opening allowing the back of the floor to drop in place.
I guess I could just lop off the vertical pieces and then use some angle aluminum to re-attach it.
Did any of you have this problem?

they need to be bent to get them in. some of us cut that wing off and mount it to the outside of the frame for more foot room

Thanks, I cut the wings off both sides, much easier installation.
No room under the tranny tunnel cover to hide all the wires.

Exactly.. not sure if it'll help much there (given I have clutch) but seemed silly not to mount to outside
