I am trying to modify the wiring harness to work for my 3 wire alternator. I believe I can hook up the brown wire to the number one post, the smaller red wire to the number two post, and then the two big red wires to the battery post.

Can someone tell me if that is right?

A picture of the back of your alternator would help out, can't remember ever seeing any "numbers" on the back terminals, just Bat, Sta and Fld.

That being said; the brown wire should go to Sta, the red wire to Fld and the BIG red wires to BAT - if my aging brain cell remembers correctly.

To verify, you might want to do a google search for alternator hookups . . .

I can’t seem to post the photo. It’s a GM 10si alternator. The number 1 post has an “r” and the number 2 post has an “f” and then theres a “batt” post.
