I have the external trunk hinges on a MkII and just got the body repainted, I was reading some old forum posts that coffee lid material is the best thing to use under them. Is that current recommendation? Did the hinges ever come with some type of material to use as a gasket between the hinge and body? I am guessing you cut them about 1/16" wider than the hinge?
