Hello again folks, quick question about rear suspension on my MKIV. I am using factory springs with adjustable Koni shocks. I adjusted the shocks to be as stiff as possible and twisted my springs down about as far as they go and my rear tire still rubs the inner fender when I go over any bumps, particularly if I have a full tank of gas or a passenger. Does anybody know of a rear coil spring that is the same size but stiffer than the factory 87’-91’ mustang ones?

Just buy a pair of spring rubbers to install in your rear springs. You can get the from Summit or most auto part stores.

You didn’t have a problem mounting your coil overs? I’m assuming you removed those coil tower things that the springs thread onto. Was that difficult after your car was completed?

No problem at all! Just take those cans off and bolt the coilovers in the same spot your mustang shocks are now.
You’ll thank me later. It’s actually a very common problem with the original donor stuff.

Right on thanks! Which ones do you have? Koni? Bilastine? Are they just foxbody upgrade coil overs from LateModel Restoration?

I am making an assumption that you have a 4 link and are using donor springs right? You don't really need to remove the spiral mount for those springs. It will not interfere if you go to coil overs. Can you show a picture of the mounts that are on your axle that the shock bolts to pls? I haven't seen anyone using donor springs in a long time and want to be sure your mounts will work w/ coil overs. The two easy choices would be FFR Koni coil overs or QA1s from Breeze.

You can leave the cans on, but why? Just unbolt them and toss them in the recycling. I have the FFR coilovers and love them! If you have new Mustang shocks, I’m sure you can sell them on Craigslist or Offerup.

Thanks, yeah I’m sure the coil overs would mount up fine. I don’t have a pic because my car is in storage right now. (I live in the Midwest) but my kit is newer (2015) and the aftermarket koni shocks mounted up just fine. Thanks for the input!
