Looking into an option for the 818. Does anyone know if the Audi 01E 6 speed FWD transmission from the Euro diesel would mate to the 3.0T from the 2010+ cars. CEL are of no concern, but the factory ECU would need to run the engine without inputs from the wheels/transmission. Other solution, mate the 3.0T to the wrx trans via adapter and only use front output shafts...(not preferred)

Engine would be 2010+ S4 3.0t with OB4 Transmission - other option is to lock the rear output but I don't know if the trans would support 350-400hp that way.

I am trying to figure out if the engine trans combo will work. The engine will fit, but I need to figure out if the transmission will fit and axles align within tolerance.

Sum it up ---
Audi 3.0T Engine
Tranmission - Audi FWD 01E, Audi AWD OB4, Subaru with adapter

I've thought about using a 4.2 Audi V8 in the 818 as it's the shortest front to rear V8 out there making 400 HP. Have not look into the 3.0...

The engine will fit, but I need to figure out if the transmission will fit and axles align within tolerance.

Exactly what I needed to do for my build. You can stretch the axle tolerance quite much but it always feels weird and gives you less play when you want to play with suspension, so the closer to normal tolerance the better. But you have a margin.

As for mating the trans to engine, try these guys, they know a lot about mating anything to anything.

Thanks for the heads up, I emailed them. I also contacted advancedautomotion and they stated it will mate. Would like a second confirmation of this though.

The ob4 is the longest of the ob’s. How about the ob1 or ob3 fwd transmissions?

They are all rated for up to 350 nm.

Yikes! $45k, slightly out of my price range.

I've spent $45K (total) on several Subaru engines that have turned into black holes of aluminum balls and shards between my 3 Subaru powered race cars. Not to mention all the races I've missed. For the same money I could have had a flat plane V8 singing the song of 11,000 rpm. There's a Palatov D1 that comes to ORP with a Hartley V8. The sound is friggin incedible.
This is the original Hartley V8 in the D1. Hartley sold the production license to a manufacturer of prototype race cars, so that's why they had to come up with the new Maxi V8.

Sorry for he threadjack, I just love looking at these engines!

Kennedy Engineering has not attempted the mating of the Audi 3.0t to a 01E transmission.

The OB4 was for simplicity coming from a wrecked S4. If I was going to install a new transmission I would prefer the durable and proven 01E transmission. Looking to do stage 2 and ultracharger, may put out more thank 350nm.

These are literally one of my favorite engines! I would love to install one into a vehicle, but I would choose a different chassis, like a dedicated race car. I have seen the Palatov D1 and their other cars. Love the AWD setup they have in the one!

Kennedy Engineering has not attempted the mating of the Audi 3.0t to a 01E transmission.

Back in 98 (20 years ago) I had Kennedy make a custom adaptor for me. It was for my first EV, (Chrysler minivan).
Adaptor was for an AC motor with a NEMA 210 C face to a dodge/crysler 5 speed trans axle. I think it was just under $200.
I supplied them with a drawing with all the dimensions.
