Get in there Friday night and leave Sunday morning. Nothing to do all day Saturday. Wondering if there are any local car events worth checking out. Figured it is a long shot but you never know.

Thanks

This time of year they'll still be hip-deep in snow... ;)

All kidding aside, there's a couple of things to experience in the "Land of Cheese-Heads" (I'm over in MN, "dontcha knooow", but an IL transplant).

- The phenomenon of the Wisconsin "Supper Club". Anywhere else it'd be a nice/casual dinner restaurant with a bar. In WI, it's a Supper Club.
- If you're a beer drinker, you must try a "Spotted Cow" from the New Glarus brewery. It's only available in WI, they WON'T export it out of the borders. Good Stuff.
- Other than that, Appleton is Appleton. A bit south is the birthplace of about 99% of the manhole covers or storm drains in the world... Neenah/Menasha.

Thanks for the intel. Seen the supper club signs before and didn’t know what the deal was. Figured you had to be a member to go in. Supposed to be 48 Sat so I plan to get out. No car though so limited to walking radius of hotel or Uber.

Forgot one "item"... raw Cheese Curds.

You'll find 'em vacuum sealed in nearly every refrigerator case from the corner gas station to the supermarket. Kinda wierd, but it's cheese just after milk is stirred up to become "cheese", but before it's cured/pressed into bricks (to be sold/sliced/etc).

It's good stuff, if you can handle how it "squeeks" when you chew it!

Fixit got it right. Supper Clubs are heavy on the comfort food and traditional cocktails. You are an hour or so away from Road America. You are closer to Green Bay - you could go pay your respects at Lambeau Field, or visit Manitowoc and see the spot in the middle of an intersection where a Russian satellite crashed. You are also close to Oshkosh, home of the EAA annual event... You should rent a car and see it all!

Thanks Al. Did the Lambeau tour when I had a Green Bay layover. That was cool.
Probably will just find a place and watch basketball tourney.

I'm 100 miles from Appleton, but the next time you have a Milwaukee layover give me a shout. At least we could meet for dinner or lunch.

Will do. Flew right over Milwaukee at 0545 this morning.
