This is my initial post on Forum. I just purchased a fairly new build 33' hot rod (500 miles) and currently being shipped to me. This car has a current SC title and registration. I have read several threads on troubles registering new builds, are they as difficult in TX using existing title? What do I need to do in preparation of receiving the car and needing to get it registered in TX?
Thanks

How about telling all of us Texas builders what hoops we have to jump thru to get the 33 registered. I'm about 3/4 way complete on my build, hope to finish up this summer.

If it already has a title, then it should just be a title transfer.

Another question: assuming I purchased the car from out of state individual for a mutually agreed price X. There is no formal bill of sale. Thus, procedures linked above has no reference to bill of sale, so what keeps me from reporting price Y on application form 130-U?

The last time I purchased a used car, I did not get a bill of sale. They would not do the transfer until I got one, so you might want to get one just in case. This was in Harris County.

I believe the assembled vehicle manual covers cars with existing titles: http://txdmv.gov/publications-tac/doc_download/3447-assembled-vehicle-manual

Read through the "acceptable evidence of vehicle ownership" section and section 4.1. The DMV offers a bill of sale form if you want to use that (you will need one). Are you trying to re-title it as a Street-Rod or just transfer the title in? Because if it has an existing title, I agree, it should just be a title transfer.
