That looks great.. Are you sure you can get in and out with the dash that low?

Through extensive chassis modification we also dropped the seat a number of inches. All good!

Love how you've added the wood to the dash. Not being a fabricator, for the top dash it looks like you cut a space in the wood overhang the thickness of the aluminum so that it could be at the same height, then attached the aluminum to the wood (in some magical way). Any info on this would be extremely helpful, as I hope to do something similar for the top dash...

"in some magical way" - adhesives are your friend. LOTS of contact cement and even some JB weld to bond sections of aluminum together on the dash 'hump'. The real trick is making it so you can get it back apart if something fails or requires service. For our application, the dash top can be removed and lifted off so we can reach in a fix things. Also, on the blog I have pics of the electrical terminal that helps to organize all of the connections....so it's not a rats nest of wire where nothing can be traced.

Hi folks. I have a request of any Gen 3 coupe owners still in the midst of the build process: I would like to get an accurate craft paper or mylar outline tracing of the dash shape, top and front.
Explanation: In my usual habit of getting way ahead of myself, I've decided that I'd like to play around with a mock-up of the dash shape/configuration. This is in no small part the result of all of the fine work that I've witnessed on this forum. Understand that I don't have a coupe on order yet, and probably won't have for a year or two down the road. But this looks like a fun project that I could spend some quality time on now, before the chassis, body and drivetrain are staring at me demanding their own attention...
I don't expect to figure everything out, since there will be lots of things behind the dash that I won't be able to account for and accommodate until I get into the actual build process. Mostly just need the steering column location as a starter, and I can work from there. Unless there are some other not-so-small details that someone could point out for guidance.
I will gladly compensate for materials, shipping tubes and shipping costs via PayPal or check or ???.

UPDATE - the gauges have arrived from Classic Instruments, the satin finish has been applied. Starting to really come together.

Normally I tend towards the original spartan interiors. However... This is really nice work. It's a little more production quality, yet retains that vintage look. Well done sir!

I have been admiring your build and following along with your progress. Thanks to the link to your blog, because that really shows the detail and hard work that you and your very competent engineer have accomplished!
Like some others have said, I usually like the traditional spartan interior of the coupe. However, the way in which you have remained true to the era, while incorporating so much creativity and "mad skills" have been great! I really like what you all have done, and appreciate you sharing your progress with us.
Congratulations on your progress and I look forward to following along as you move towards completion!!

Wiring done up on the jig, The plywood terminal in the back is just a mock up of the terminal fabricated in the car for ease of wiring - this way all of the runs can be done in the workshop before situating it in the car. The terminal approach also allows for easier install/uninstall for servicing and troubleshooting.
