I am in the process of building my body buck-
I am going to hang it off the ceiling-
How much does the fiberglass body weight?

Someone will likely be able to give you an exact number, but my estimate based on when me and my neighbor removed mine is under 150 pounds without the doors, hood and trunk. It may even be closer to 100 pounds. The buck weighs way more than the body.

I weighed mine, 140-145# from what I recall. Body only, no attachable parts. The way they are manufactured I would guess that there could be a 10# variation.

Like other have stated, the body is pretty light. Mine hung from my garage ceiling for 5 years.

Only took two of us to hang it. I think the lowest point was a bit above 6'-8".

I hung my body to the ceiling directly, no body buck. Used large plastic hooks in the wheel wells, hung there for many years, zero difficulties, no distortions.

Mine is a Mk 3 but I'm pretty confident that the body alone (no doors, trunk lid or hood) is under 100 lbs.

They sell those "canoe" hook kits to hang mountain bikes too . . . have two in my garage now holding ours.

But back to the original question . . . I suspended my MKII body from my garage ceiling for months at a time as I did different [body off] mods over the years. Never thought about the weight much as I set up four 150# pulleys with 200# nylon line to pull it to the ceiling. Two people to raise it easily. Body buck was altered to just be the parts needed to support the wheel wells. Worked quite well

You'l be fine with what you are working toward . . .

FWIW, the original specs for a MKII with hood, doors and trunk is 190#.
